PROPOSITION 1A
HIGHER TAXES, MORE WASTE, A BIGGER BUDGET MESS
 |
HITS CALIFORNIA FAMILIES WITH $16 BILLION IN NEW SALES TAXES,
INCOME TAXES AND CAR TAXES WHEN THEY CAN LEAST AFFORD IT.
California is suffering the worst recession in modern history. Unemploy-
ment and home foreclosures are at record levels. Businesses are closing
or cutting back. Raising taxes by $16 billion will only make things worse. |
 |
MAKES CALIFORNIA’S BUDGET MESS EVEN WORSE. Prop 1A would
rewrite California’s constitution to include complex new budget formulas
that won’t limit government spending or prevent new taxes. And it does
nothing to combat government waste. |
 |
WAS SLAPPED TOGETHER BY THE SAME POLITICIANS WHO CREATED
CALIFORNIA’S $40 BILLION BUDGET DEFICIT. Prop 1A was thrown together
at the last minute by the Governor and Legislature, without careful review
or the benefit of public hearings. Instead of real reform, it’s a sham — just
more window dressing that doesn’t fix the problem. |
 |
OPPOSED by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, United Californians
for Tax Reform, National Tax Limitation Committee President Lew Uhler
and more than 20 taxpayer groups across California.. |
“ Join my fight to stop Prop 1A — a $16 billion tax hike
that makes an even bigger mess of California’s budget.”
JEFF STONE, Riverside County Supervisor
